Trichoderma is now one of the most well known genus of fungi, more than 100 species are now recognized in Trichoderma (www.isth.info), most described over the last 10 years, and our extensive understanding of species in the genus is possible because of the multidisciplinary approaches and bioinformatics that have been used to understand the variability and diversity in Trichoderma and the Hypocrea teleomorph. In tropics this remains without enough exploration and description, obviating the biodiversity and consequently bioprospection of strains originated in these zones. Studies in this particular issue can contribute to understand the diversity on microorganisms.
