Development of smart tools for damage prediction and early detection of defects in railways
Resumen
The White Etching layer (WEL) is a frequently observed microstructural phenomenon in rail surface, formed during grinding operation and dynamic wheel/rail contact. he white etching layer It is considered as one of the main initiators for rolling contact fatigue and subsequent cracks. This phenomenon It leads to sudden failure of rail at very early stages rail and wheel contact. This kind of failure causes an expensive maintenance operation due to unexpected repair tasks and the long used machinery for these interventions. The aim of the project is to create a smart and practical strategies in order to prevent an early failure on rails and reduce the time to detect defect feature and subsequent propagation
