PRODUCTION OF PROTEIN HYDROLYSATE FROM RICE BRAN USING IMMOBILIZED PROTEASE ON LIGNOCELLULOSIC WASTE
Resumen
This proposal aims to use two agricultural residues to obtain high value-added products and simultaneously reducing the environmental impact of these materials. One of the wastes is rice bran that will be used as substrate for obtaining bioactive peptides-rich protein hydrolysates by heterogeneous enzymatic catalysis. The second agricultural residue is Passion fruit stalks that will be used to isolate its cellulose which, in turn, will be the catalytic support active matrix. The proposed methodology will include the separation of cellulose from the residue of the fruit crops, followed by its chemical activation for trypsin immobilization. This biocatalyst will be used to hydrolysis the protein extracts from the rice bran, and will be evaluated the antioxidant capacity of the peptides. All the relevant initial, intermediate and final materials will be thoroughly characterized. Finally, a techno-economic and environmental assessment of the optimized process will be carried out.
