A phenomenological based model for the central metabolic response of Escherichia coli to temperature changes in batch culture
Resumen
This work presents the development of a phenomenological-based semiphysical model (PBSM) for the E. coli response to environmental temperature changes in batch culture. The model is based on a description of the global biochemical processes that occur in energetic metabolism and the ATP dynamic. The model includes an energy balance made under the criteria of concentrated parameters. The fit and validation of the model was performed against different literature data taken under aerobic growth conditions in agitated tank bioreactor cultures. This model, based in mass and energy balances, can predict global changes on the E. coli metabolism due to different temperature conditions, as well as the heat flow between the bacteria and the environment.
