Viswanathan Arunachalam (ARUN) earned his Ph.D. degree in Mathematics from the Indian Institute of Technology Madras in 1996. From 1996 to 1997, he was a post-doctoral fellow at the Department of Cell Research and immunology, Tel Aviv University, Tel Aviv, Israel. From 1997-2012, he was faculty at Department of Mathematics, Universidad de los Andes, Bogotá, Presently at Department of Statistics, Universidad Nacional de Colombia, Bogotá. Adjunct Faculty at Simon A. Levin Mathematical, Computational and Modeling Sciences Center, Arizona State University. His research interests include stochastic processes and its applications in biology, reliability and queuing theory, Optimization, mathematics of financial derivatives, and statistics of financial markets. He has published in several journals such as Optimization, Stochastic Analysis and Applications, Journal of Risk, Journal Biological Systems, International Journal of Biomathematics, Annals of Operations Research, International Journal of Theoretical and Applied Finance, Computers and Mathematics with Applications, among others. He is co-author of a text book entitled "Introduction to Probability and Stochastic Processes with Applications" in John Wiley & Sons 2012.
