Perfil profesional
Constain H. Salamanca graduated in June 2000 as a Pharmaceutical Chemist from the University of Antioquia-Colombia. In 2007, he graduated with a Doctorate in Chemistry from the University of Chile-Chile, focusing on the area of physiochemistry of polymers in aqueous media with potential application in the pharmaceutical field. These doctoral studies were financed by a scholarship awarded by the DAAD of the German government. Between 2008-2010, Constain served as a full-time professor at the Faculty of Pharmaceutical and Food Sciences of the University of Antioquia, where he primarily focused on the implementation and delivery of new physical chemistry courses focused on pharmaceutical science. Between 2010 and 2015, Constain served as a full-time professor in the Department of Pharmacy at Universidad ICESI in Cali, Colombia, where he designed and implemented Pharmaceutical Technology courses. Between 2015-2020, Constain took over as head of the Master's program in chemical formulation and related products at ICESI University, where he also participated as supervisor of several theses, as well as professor of Colloids and product stability courses. Between 2021-2023 he served as an occasional full-time Professor at the Faculty of Pharmaceutical and Food Sciences of the University of Antioquia. Currently, Constain works as a full-time professor at the School of Chemistry at the National University of Colombia, Medellin. In relation to the research areas, these include: (i) obtaining and characterization of polymeric materials with potential application in the pharmaceutical sector, (ii) physicochemical characterization of polymers in aqueous solution, and since 2015 has been working on the design and characterization and pharmaceutical nanoformulations with emphasis on polymeric nanoparticles, lipid nanoparticles and nanoliposomes . Constain has published more than 100 works, including more than 50 undergraduate and graduate theses, as well as 43 articles in high-impact journals, in addition to 2 book chapters. In addition, he has carried out several investigations as a principal investigator in the field of design, characterization and biological evaluation of nanoparticles loaded with compounds of biological interest, as well as other projects focused on solving problems in the pharmaceutical, cosmetic and food industries.
